Muddy Buddy 14-Aug-2011
I was getting ready to return from another international jaunt and looking for things to do when I got home when I saw that the
Columbia Muddy Buddy was happening in Boulder a week after I got back. Well, I just needed a partner...so I dragged my little brother Alex into the mess (so to speak).

Rafting 19-Jun-2010
I am by no means an expert at navigating fast rivers, but the few trips I have been on have been ridiculous fun. In the summer of 2010 me and a bunch of folks from work went on a trip down the headwaters of the Arkansas through Buena Vista--it was awesome.

Winter Fun 2008 - 2010
Winter has always been my favorite season for a lot of reasons, but I really enjoy snowsports in particular, especially skiing and snowboarding (though I'm not much good at the latter). The winter seasons from 2008 through 2010 were so much fun, I didn't even get as many pictures as I wanted, but here's what made it out.

Pikes Peak Council Boy Scouts - 27-Sep-2008
In 2008 I was briefly in charge of the 11-year old scouting program at my church in Colorado Springs. I was only with them for a few short months, but we tried to get in as many fun activities as we could: a couple campouts, some hikes, and some fun meetings. These are the few pictures I came away with. These guys are all doing great now, and I hope they continue on and each earn their Eagle!

Fulford Cave - 11-Nov-2006
Feeling restless, Duncan and I organized a trip to Fulford Cave that managed to bring in two fellow adventurers besides ourselves. The cave is about 10 miles south of Eagle, CO and it was our first real caving experience--and we're definitely going to be doing more of this!

Tahosa Backpacking - 23-Oct-2005
My youngest brother recently moved from Cub Scouting to Boy Scouting, and is now a member of my old troop. So when they asked me to come along and help out on a backpacking trip near the Indian Peaks Wilderness, I couldn't say no.
-
Blanca Group - 17-Sep-2006
After turning back a few hundred yards from the summit in the Fall of 2003, Duncan and I were determined to make a return trip and finally conquer Blanca Peak (and hopefully Ellingwood Point and Little Bear Peak as well).
-
Pyramid Peak - 3-Sep-2005
In September 2005 my friend Duncan and I took a trip to the Elk Range near Aspen and Snowmass to climb Pyramid Peak, one of the most difficult fourteeners in Colorado. It was a great climb and a spectacular trip. This is what mountain climbing really is! Read the Adventure for the full story!

Spring Break - 19 to 21-Mar-2005
In March 2005 my friend Duncan, my girlfriend (now fiancee) Emily, and I took a trip to Utah to visit Zion National Park. The trip became a beautiful disaster that gave us the opportunity to see some of America's most fantastic natural features.

Hut Trip - 16 to 18-Dec-2004
Following a tough semester in the Fall of 2004, Duncan and a couple of friends decided to get away from it all by spending the weekend in the back country. It was a great trip, but it certainly reminded us that even the best planned trips can run into trouble. Read the Adventure Report for more details!
-
Great Sand Dunes - 12-Oct-2003
Over fall break in 2003 my friend Duncan and I made a trip to southern Colorado to visit the Great Sand Dunes Nat'l Park and to make an attempt at climbing Blanca Peak in the nearby Sangre de Cristo Mountains. We had a blast at the Sand Dunes, but had to make a return trip to bag Blanca Peak.

Ranger Club Recon Patrol - 4-Oct-2002
These pictures are from the CSM Ranger Club's Recon Patrol into Rocky Mountain National Park near the East Inlet Trail in Grand Lake, CO. We did a small reconnaissance of a waterfall in the lower park and decent ruck march up the trail to Three Falls.

Long's Peak Ascent - 9-Sep-2002
This is a set of pictures from hallowed antiquity--translated: before I had a digital camera. In Fall of 2002 I went with Army ROTC to do a midnight ascent of Long's Peak in Northern Colorado. It was a great climb. Round trip: 12 miles.
